The "Crown of the Continental Ecosystem", Glacier National Park encompasses some 1,584 square miles. The glaciers for which the park is named have been in retreat for the past 15,000 years. Examinations of photographs from the past century indicate that many of the 150 glaciers that existed 100 years earlier have either receded or disappeared entirely. As part of the Farley Special Printings, this stamp was issued imperforate and without gum. Scott 764 Glacier
