Stamps specifically intended to pre-pay postage on packages were introduced in 1912 and the 20¢ variety was the first stamp from any country to show an airplane. The Post Office quietly phased out use of the entire Parcel Post series because of the confusion caused by printing all denominations in the same bold red color.
