HUGUENOT-WALLOON In 1562, the first Huguenot immigrants settled in Florida at a site marked by the monument shown on the 5¢ stamp. In 1624, another group left Europe aboard the ship New Netherland (1¢ stamp) and established Fort Orange (2¢ stamp), known today as Albany, New York, whose 300th anniversary is celebrated with these commemoratives.
