#3394 - 33¢ Omar Bradley
General Omar N. Bradley (1893-1981) led the First Army during the Allied landing at Normandy in June 1944. A few months later he took command of the Twelfth Army Group - at 1.3 million strong, the largest American field command in history. He became Army Chief of Staff in 1948 and the first chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1949. He was the last of only nine people to hold the rank of five-star General. Scott 3394 Omar Bradley
