According to Chinese legend, Wang Zhaojun was one of the Four Beauties of ancient China. Born during the Han Dynasty over 2000 years ago, the beautiful and intelligent Zhaojun was sent by Emperor Yuan to marry Xiongnu Chanyu in order to maintain harmony between the Han Dynasty and the Xiongnu government. It was said that Zhaojun was so beautiful that her appearance would cause birds in flight to fall from the sky.
