#2747 - 29¢ Oregon Trail

Over 400,000 early settlers, told of freedom, land and riches in the untamed West packed up their possessions into wagons and set off along the 2,000 mile Oregon Trail. The journey was not an easy one, and pioneers on the trail had to contend with hostile Indians, flooded rivers, food shortages, cholera outbreaks, scurvy and freezing winters among others. Today, highways such as Rt-80 follow much of the original trail, and deep ruts created from the passing of thousands of wagon wheels can still be found crossing the plains. Scott 2747 Oregon Trail
