# C6 - 24¢ DeHavilland Biplane - carmine
The DeHavilland biplane pictured on this stamp replaced the Curtiss Jenny as the basic airmail carrier. The 24¢ stamp paid the rate for a letter crossing all three airmail zones, or a triple-weight letter in one zone. Original plans called for this stamp to be printed in dark brown.
