VOC Copper Duit Coin - Set of 4 Coins in Descriptive Album

A formidable organization in its day with 36,000 employees, 1500 ships, an army and its own currency, the Dutch East India Company, or VOC, experienced a shortage of coins in its expanding Asian spice island empire. To correct this shortage, coins were struck at four provincial mints in the Netherlands showing the VOC monogram and the distinctive coats of arms of Holland, West Friesland, Zeeland and Utrecht. This fascinating collection of genuine VOC copper duits originated from each of these four mints. It is interesting to note that United States coins were first minted in 1792!
