To promote the Canadian International Philatelic Exhibition (CAPEX) in Toronto, the U.S. Postal Service decided to do something unique - to have this commemorative sheet's first day of issue ceremony take place in Canada! This mint sheet of 48 features wildlife found in both Canada and the United States - a Cardinal, Mallard Duck, Canada Goose, Blue Jay, Moose, Chipmunk, Red Fox and Raccoon. The sheet of 48 contains 6 blocks of 8 and became one of the most popular stamp issues of 1978 (#1757).
