This set marks the first appearance by two American presidents. The 2¢ Andrew Jackson, known as the "Black Jack," bears a portrait unusually large for postage of the period. Collectors accumulated this handsomely-engraved issue to study the various types of postmarks used during the 1860s, resulting in relatively few examples available today.
