Arctic Tundra Sheet - Save $3 on this 2003 Mint Sheet of 10

This attractive sheet of 10 stamps shows the stark beauty and variety of plant and animal life found in the Brooks Range in Alaska's Arctic Tundra. Extremely cold temperatures, high winds and sparse precipitation mark the severe climate of the arctic tundra. Much of the soil remains frozen all year, though the top soil thaws enough during the warmer months to support the growth of certain types of vegetation. Less than 50 different species of land mammals inhabit this harsh environment including the grizzly bear, musk oxen, caribou and grey wolf, and birds such as the gyrfalcon and ptarmigan. Educational and beautiful, the Postal Service printed an illustrated identifier of all 24 highlighted species on the back of the sheet. (U.S. #3802)
