Shortly after Lincoln won the Presidential election in 1860, a group of prominent Ohioans commissioned Thomas Dow Jones to create a sculpture of the new President to place in the Ohio Capitol building. This was the first portrayal in any art form on Lincoln with a beard. Scott 137 6¢ Lincoln
