Known for his cultivated English accent, suave looks, debonair demeanor, comedic timing and light-hearted approach to dramatic roles, he was a top box office attraction in a career spanning over 30 years and 70 films. He was a favorite of director Alfred Hitchcock, and starred in four Hitchcock films.
