#754 - 3¢ Whistler's Mother - Imperforate without gum

Issued "in honor of the mothers of America," this stamp is a likeness of James Whistler's "Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist's Mother". Currently owned by the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, the work was initially scoffed at and Whistler himself pawned the painting.
