# 802 - 3¢ Virgin Islands
The image on this stamp is of Charlotte Amalie, the capital and largest city of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Its deep-water harbor was once a haven for pirates and is now a popular port of call for tourists and cruise ships. The Islands were purchased by the United States from Denmark during World War I to prevent Germany from using the Islands as a submarine base. Scott 802 Virgin Islands
