Australia #48 Kangaroo & Map - 1915 6p ultramarine

This plain but immediately recognizable design was chosen through a public competition for Australia's first stamps as a unified nation. The design was so popular that it remained in use for nearly 40 years. This 6-pence 1915 issue, printed in a nice ultramarine shade, features the "narrow crown and A" watermark. (Australia #48)
