Bahamas First Stamp - 1859 Imperforate Mint Issue

This first issue, in mint condition with original gum, features the “Chalon” portrait of a young Queen Victoria and the pineapple and conch shell symbols of the colony. It paid the local letter rate between the islands. As the only imperforate stamp issued by the Bahamas, it was in use for about a year before a perforated version was available. (Bahamas #1)
