Bhopal #O51 Mosque - 1945 Mint NH Indian State Issue

Used for government correspondence, this rarely-seen stamp was issued during the final years Bhopal existed as an independent state before joining India. The Moti Masjid was built in 1860 by Sikander Begum, one of Bhopal’s line of female rulers, a liberated woman who broke tradition by dressing like a man in public appearances. (Bhopal #O51)
