Declaration of Independence #1691-94 - Save $2.50 - 1976 Plate Block of 16

Artist John Trumbull spent five years assembling accurate portraits of 42 signers of the Declaration of Independence, shown presenting the document to Congress. Today this massive 12 by 18 foot painting can be seen in the U.S. Capitol's rotunda. To commemorate the nation's bicentennial on July 4, 1976, the U.S. Post Office reproduced the central portion of this iconic painting on a strip of four stamps. To collect a complete plate block, a block of 16 stamps is needed. (US #1691-94 Plate Block)
