German Offices in Turkey #37 - 1905 Mint Never Hinged Issue

Germany and, along with several other European nations, established a network of post offices in distant nations and territories during the late 19th and early 20th centuries where the local services were considered unreliable. This 1905 German issue, overprinted in Turkish piasters, was used in German post offices throughout the Ottoman Empire from Constantinople to Jerusalem. Most of these remote offices were closed after World War I. (Germ.Off. in Turkey #37)
