Mongolia #304-07 The Great Khan - 1962 Mint Set of 4
The founder of the Mongol Empire, Genghis Khan created what became the largest contiguous empire in history 800 years ago, stretching from the Pacific Ocean to Eastern Europe. When this set was issued in 1962, the ruling Communist government objected to stamps honoring Khan, and most of the stamps were placed in storage, released only when the democratic government came to power in the 1990s.
