North Borneo #111 - 1901 Mint Never-Hinged Issue

In the late 1800s the territorial government of North Borneo made arrangements with Great Britain for military protection against encroachment by other European powers. This stamp picturing a Malay dhow, a traditional sailing vessel that could also be powered by rowing, was overprinted proclaiming North Borneo's status as a British Protectorate. (North Borneo #111)
