Samoa #31-38 Civil War - 1899 Mint NH Set of 8

During the Second Samoan Civil War, when the United States, Britain and Germany had a dispute over who controlled the islands, a provisional government was set up until the conflict was settled, and eventually the islands were divided between the United States and Germany. Earlier stamps, issued when Samoa was an independent kingdom, were overprinted for the provisional government. (Samoa #31-38)
