1937 Complete Mint Imperforate Set of 4 Tax Stamps

During the Spanish Civil War, many towns and municipalities issued war tax stamps, required for use on mail alongside postage stamps to finance the war. Vinebre, a small town of 700 on the Ebre River in northeast Spain, issued some of the most desirable stamps of the Spanish Civil War. This rarely seen first issue is inscribed in the local Catalan language and shows a scene along the Ebre River.
