Canada Semi-Official Airmail - 1927 Mint NH Western Canada Airways

Canada was one of the first nations to test the use of airplanes to carry mail, and before their government began issuing airmail stamps in 1928, private companies issued stamps to pay for postage on their planes. This rarely-seen issue from Western Canada Airways, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation, was sold at airline offices and post offices in Winnipeg and Western Canada, paying the postage for airmail delivery in Canada’s sparsely-populated northwest. Quantity printed 10,000. Canada #CL41
