Nicaragua #556-68 Earthquake Reprints - 1932 Mint Set of 13

The 1931 Nicaragua earthquake devastated the city of Managua, destroying thousands of buildings and leaving three-fourths of the city's residents homeless. To raise funds for rebuilding efforts, a set of stamps with before-and-after pictures of the Managua Post Office was sold for one day in 1932. Reprints were quickly made from the original plates to meet collector demand, and this hard-to-find set is printed on ungummed paper in colors matching the first scarce printing.
