Transcaucasia #17a Oil Fields - 1923 Mint Imperf Revolutionary Issue

During the turmoil following the 1918 Bolshevik Revolution, the Transcaucasian Federated Republic, located between the Black and Caspian Seas, united Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and enjoyed a brief independence in 1923. This stamp, one of only a handful issued, pictures oil fields in the shadows of the Caucasian Mountains. Normally issued in perforated form, a small number were released imperforate.
