# 809 - 4 1/2¢ White House

Although construction of the White House began in 1792, the building has undergone several structural and functional changes during its lifetime. Set ablaze during the War of 1812, restoration began almost immediately. The South Portico was added in 1824, the North Portico following in 1829. President Teddy Roosevelt relocated nearly all work offices to the West Wing in 1901. Scott 809 White House
