#4465S- 44¢ Negro Leagues Baseball - Set of 2

During the early days of baseball black players were prohibited from participating in the white professional leagues. Thus, the Negro Leagues were formed. The light-hearted entertainment on the field was darkened by the racial inequality of the time. It wasn’t until 1947 that the segregation of Major League Baseball ended and black players were finally able to sign and play the game at the highest professional level. The Negro Leagues continued to operate for more than ten years, but with their best players being signed to MLB teams, the league eventually ceased in 1961. Scott 4465-66 Negro Leagues Baseball
