Martín Ramírez (1895–1963) was a self-taught artist. Diagnosed as a catatonic schizophrenic he spent most of his life in California mental hospitals. While in the hospital he started drawing and making collages with a distinctive style and perspective. This set of five stamps shows some of the work for which he is known.
