To promote the Canadian International Philatelic Exhibition (CAPEX) in Toronto, the U.S. Postal Service decided to do something unique - to have this commemorative sheet's first day of issue ceremony take place in Canada! This mint sheet, featuring wildlife found in both Canada and the United States, became one of the most popular stamp issues of 1978 (#1757).
