#1043 - 9¢ Alamo

This 1718 Spanish mission in San Antonio, Texas, was the 1836 site of one of the bloodiest battles in the struggle for Texan independence. Defended by 187 Texans, 5,000 troops under General Santa Anna defeated the Texans and only 4 survived. "Remember the Alamo" became the battle cry for Texan independence which was won two months later. Scott 1043 9¢ Alamo
