#1949 - 20¢ Bighorn Sheep - booklet issue
Bighorn Sheep are species of sheep in North America with large horns. Thought to have crossed across the Bering land bridge from Siberia around 750,000 years ago, their populations once exceeded 2 million. By around 1900 the population of Bighorn Sheep had decreased to only several thousand. Various programs of reintroductions and conservation have increased the population of Bighorn Sheep.
