These stamps commemorate five American Olympic gold medal winners: Jesse Owens, the first American to win four medals at a single Olympics in Berlin in 1936 for track and field, Ray Ewry won eight medals in jumping events at three Olympic games, Hazel Wightman won two medals for tennis in 1924, Helene Madison won three swimming medals in 1932, and bobsledder and boxer Eddie Egan is the only American to win gold in both summer and winter Olympic games.
