#2474 - 25¢ Sandy Hook

The Sandy Hook Lighthouse in New Jersey is the oldest working lighthouse in the United States. Built in 1764 by Isaac Conro, Benjamin Tupper attempted to destroy the Light during the American Revolution. Tupper, a supporter of the American cause, felt that the light would aid the British attempting to land at New York Harbor. Scott 2474 Sandy Hook
