#2621 - 29¢ Crossing Atlantic
After stopping to resupply in the Canary Islands, Christopher Columbus set forth across the open ocean for 5 weeks before sighting land on October 12th 1492. He continued on to Cuba, followed by the Dominican Republic where he encountered the only hostile natives of his journey. By March 1493 he had successfully returned to Spain, bringing stories of new worlds on the other side of the Atlantic. Scott 2621 Crossing Atlantic
