Co-founders of Readers Digest, husband and wife Lila and DeWitt Wallace found financial success through the monthly publication but then turned their attention to charity and philanthropy. DeWitt donated a sizable fortune to Macalester College, his alma mater who in turn named a dormitory after him. In 1985 Lila and DeWitt helped fund the Decorative Arts Museum, which features an extensive collection of British and American antiques from the 17th to 19th centuries.
