#2943 - 78¢ Alice Paul
Order Pre-cut Mounts 22 x 25 mm - 40 per pack
Instrumental in passing the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution granting women the right to vote, activist Alice Paul was educated at Swarthmore College and received a Doctorate in Civil Law from American University. Arrested during a peaceful protest and sent to Occoquan Workhouse, Paul began a hunger strike to draw public attention to women's rights, during which she was force fed raw eggs through a tube. In 1920, partly due to the efforts of Alice Paul, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed, giving women the right to vote. Scott 2943 Alice Paul
