In Bowling, the object of the game is to hurl a ball down a lane in an attempt to knock over a group of pins. Points are awarded based on how many pins you knock over. There are 5 main variations to bowling found in North America: Ten-Pin, Nine-Pin, Candlepin, Duckpin, and Five-Pin. Special shoes are worn which allow the Bowler to slide as they approach the lane, and while serious players own their own Bowling balls and shoes, amateur players can rent all the necessary equipment.
