#4462 - 64¢ Monarch Butterfly

Native to much of North America, the iconic orange and black butterfly known commonly as the Monarch spreads its wings wide. The Monarch is unique in that it is the only butterfly that migrates for the winter months. They take refuge in the forests of Mexico, hibernating until it comes time to awaken and begin the next egg-laying cycle. Of the four yearly generations, most only survive up to 10 weeks from birth, through transformation, and finally death. Only the migratory generation survives for the 6-8 months necessary to continue the propagation of its species. Scott 4462 Monarch Butterfly
