#5801 - John Lewis

John Lewis (1940-2020) was an American civil rights activist and politician, serving as a U.S. Representative for over 30 years. He helped organize the 1963 March on Washington. In 1965 he led the first Selma to Montgomery march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge which became known as Bloody Sunday after state troopers and police attacked Lewis and other marchers. In 2001, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation awarded Lewis the Profile in Courage Award. Scott 5801 John Lewis
