# 830 - 30¢ T. Roosevelt: plate block

The youngest person to assume the highest office in the land, Theodore Roosevelt became President at the age of 42 following William McKinley's assassination. Roosevelt was a sickly child, but as President was famous for his "cowboy" image. Roosevelt's administration oversaw the completion of the Panama Canal, the negotiation of the 1905 Russo-Japanese Peace Treaty, and the creation of the United States Forest Service.
