Hyderabad #39B Seal of Nizam - 1948 Indian State Issue

Following its independence from Britain in 1947, India annexed most of the semi-autonomous princely states. Hyderabad, the wealthiest and most powerful state, opted for independence but was forcibly annexed in 1948. This 1948 issue, one of its final stamps, shows the seal of the Nizam, the last monarch of Hyderabad. (India Hyderabad #39B)
