Can #135 Fathers of Confederation - 1917 Mint Lightly-Hinged Issue

Despite being heavily involved in World War I, Canada issued a single stamp in 1917 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. Reproducing the 1883 painting "Fathers of the Confederation" by Welsh-born artist Robert Harris, it depicts the 33 attendees to the 1867 Canadian Confederation that united former colonies as Canada. Under magnification, the skill of the engraver is easily seen because the faces of each delegate are identifiable! (Canada #135)
