Occupied Albania #1-4 - 1943 Mint Never-Hinged Set of 4

Occupied by Italy in 1939 as one of Mussolini’s first invasions of World War II, by 1943 with the collapse of Mussolini’s government, Germany occupied Albania to prevent an uprising by the resistance movement. These overprints on stamps from the Italian occupation, including one surcharged with a new value, proclaim Albania’s so-called “independence” under German occupation, which fell in 1944 when nationalist forces defeated the Germans.
