Chester Arthur Burnett, better known as "Howlin' Wolf", had a looming physical presence and booming voice that became famous on the Chicago Blues circuit. Unlike many other early blues and jazz musicians, after pulling himself out of poverty Howlin' Wolf was always financially successful. He was also able to avoid many addictions that pulled down other musicians of the time.
