#3432A- 76¢ Edward Trudeau

Edward Trudeau (1848-1915) was a physician who pioneered the research and treatment of tuberculosis. During his late teens, his older brother James contracted tuberculosis, and his death encouraged Trudeau to find a cure for the disease. Diagnosed with tuberculosis himself, he discovered that the cold air of the Adirondack Mountains helped him overcome the disease, and when his health improved he opened the Adirondack Cottage Sanatorium on Saranac Lake, where he claimed a success rate of 73% in curing patients. Cartoonist Garry Trudeau is his great grandson. Scott 3432A Edward Trudeau
