#4268 - $4.80 Mount Rushmore

Four of our nation’s most influential presidents were immortalized on the face of Mount Rushmore to honor their achievements and contributions to our nation. The father of the United States, George Washington; author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson; uniter of the eastern and western waters with the Panama Canal, Theodore Roosevelt; and presider over the Civil War and proponent of equality, Abraham Lincoln. The sculpture originally planned to depict the four men from the waist up, but due to a lack of funding only the busts of these men exists today. Though most large-scale projects such as this were often accompanied by a number of lives lost in the process, not a single fatality was attributed to the carving of this monument.
