"Special" Special Delivery - Save 20% on this 1893 Issue

Not many collectors are aware of why the post office printed the third Special Delivery stamp in orange rather than the traditional blue. Postal officials needed special delivery mail to stand out and they were fearful that it would blend in with the 1¢ Columbian on mail that was similar in size and color that was released in 1893. To avoid any confusion the 10 cent Special Delivery was printed in orange and it was available only during 1893 when the Columbian commemoratives were on sale.(US #E3)
