Acadia National Park, located on the coast of Maine, was created in 1919 as "Lafayette National Park". It was the first national park to be established east of the Mississippi, and features several peaks and impressive seaside cliffs. Its Cadillac Mountain is one of the first locations in the United States to see the sunrise. As part of the Farley Special Printings, this stamp was issued imperforate and without gum.
